Snowdon Trust
The Snowdon Trust (“ST”) focuses on breaking down the barriers that prevent disabled students and graduates from fulfilling their potential.
Their work is delivered across four areas: providing disability-related study costs grants to physically disabled and sensory impaired students studying in the UK; fully funding a number of Master's Scholarships for disabled students each year; running the Disabled Leaders Network which is a leadership forum for disabled students, graduates and professionals to come together, share their experiences, learn skills and drive disability inclusion; and information, advice and campaigning where the charity uses its voice, and the voices of its disabled student community, to support the sharing of data, stories and lived experiences to drive structural change which supports all disabled people.

During the ‘23/’24 academic year, ST awarded 84 disability-related study costs grants totalling £300k. Grants awarded during the year included British Sign Language interpretation; funding the costs of carer accommodation for disabled students who need 24/7 care; and providing disabled students with wheelchairs to enable them to independently move around their university campus. The charity also awarded 13 Master’s Scholarships.
Two of ST’s scholars were recognised in 2023’s Shaw Trust Disabled Power 100 for their work in Education and Fashion and Design, and one of ST’s 2022 Snowdon Master’s Scholars appeared in the news alongside the charity’s patron Tanni Grey-Thompson, calling for more accessible transport, which resulted in a commitment from manufacturers to provide accessible toilets for disabled people on all trains and planes.
