3i appoints Kevin Dunn as General Counsel
Kevin succeeds Tony Brierley who formerly held the role as Tony steps down to take planned retirement after 24 years in the business.
In his new position at 3i, Kevin is responsible for the group’s legal, compliance, internal audit and company secretariat functions. He also succeeds Tony Brierley as Chairman of 3i’s Group Corporate Responsibility (CR) Committee, to ensure that 3i’s investments fall within its CR policy.
Kevin joins from General Electric, where he was a Senior Managing Director, running the European Leveraged Finance business for GE’s Commercial Finance division. During this time, he led a business employing more than 150 people across four countries and managed a large portfolio of loans and equity investments. In Kevin’s former role as European General Counsel, GE Commercial Finance, he built a legal and compliance team of around 75 professionals in 11 countries supporting the business during a period of rapid growth. Kevin brings to 3i extensive knowledge of European financial services transactions and regulations as well as an understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of acquiring and integrating businesses and portfolios of financial assets. Prior to joining GE in 2002, Kevin was a Partner in the finance and banking department of the law firms Travers Smith and then Latham & Watkins.

Kevin Dunn holds an MA in Law from the University of Cambridge (Trinity Hall) and is a UK qualified solicitor. He is a member of The Law Society.
